Execution of Well Engineering and Project Management Services Agreement for Australian Offshore CO2 Storage Acreage G-14-AP

  • deepC Store signs an agreement with AGR to design the appraisal well drilling and injectivity testing program for deepC Store and Azuli’s large-scale CO2 storage site in offshore Australia.

  • AGR will also provide deepC Store with project management services for the appraisal well drilling and injectivity testing program.

deepC Store Pty Ltd (“deepC Store”) is pleased to announce that it has entered into an agreement with AGR (“AGR”) to design the appraisal well drilling and injectivity testing program for the G-14-AP permit area in the Browse basin of offshore Australia co-owned by deepC Store and Azuli  (Australia) Ltd (“Azuli”).

The G-14-AP permit is one of the two offshore CO2 storage acreages (the other being G-13-AP permit) that were awarded to deepC Store and Azuli in August 2024 by the Australian Commonwealth Government.  deepC Store is the designated operator of the G-14-AP permit and the associated CStore1 project and estimates that this permit area contains CO2 storage potential of approx. 1 giga (billion) tonne of CO2.

A key activity to technically demonstrate this large-scale CO2 storage potential is to execute an appraisal well drilling and injectivity testing program.

Commenting on the contract award, deepC Store’s Managing Director Daein Cha said: “We are very pleased to work with AGR for progressing one of its key technical activities for G-14-AP.  This relationship is an important component of our world class CO2 storage development.”

AGR Managing Director Andy Perchard said “We are delighted to collaborate with deepC Store on this pivotal project. Leveraging our extensive experience in well engineering and CO₂ storage operations, we look forward to supporting the appraisal and injectivity testing program to unlock the significant potential of the G-14-AP permit. This partnership underscores AGR's commitment to advancing innovative and sustainable energy solutions.”

The said well engineering work is due to be completed by end of 2025.
